MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Los Angeles Mission College Mathematics Department.

Mathematics is the key to understanding the world around us. More than just calculations and computations, math involves the observation of patterns, experimentation, and determining order. The tools are numbers, logic, and symbols.

Embrace mathematics and a world of opportunities opens before you. Countless career possibilities - from statistics and accounting to engineering and aerodynamics - become possible when you pursue the study of mathematics.

LAMC offers the dual advantage of small classes and knowledgeable faculty dedicated to teaching and exploring mathematics and its applications. Our instructors provide students with a learning experience that utilizes lecture methods, collaborative learning, and integrated computer work.

Our department offers a full spectrum of courses in multiple modalities including, hyflex and asynchronous online courses.

To best accommodate the needs of both our full-time and evening students, courses are scheduled throughout the day from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekdays, as well as some classes offered on a Friday or Saturday schedule.

In addition to traditional lecture courses, the department offers classes with a computer lab component and online classes. The Center for Math and Science (CMS) building has fully equipped computer labs and state of the art smart classrooms. The Math Center (CMS 121) provides free tutoring services for all LAMC math courses and advanced Physics. Qualified tutors and supervisors are available to help students in a walk-in basis. Math instructors can also meet students in the tutoring lab during office hours.
