The Los Angeles Mission College STEM MESA Program is a dynamic and inclusive initiative designed to empower students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degrees. Rooted in collaboration between multiple STEM programs, including the Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA) program and the Department of Education Title III Grant STEM Mission's Excellence Towards the Advancement of Students (METAS). Our mission is to cultivate a diverse and thriving community of aspiring STEM professionals.

The STEM MESA Program aims to help students achieve success in math- and science-based degrees. Through our program, students develop academic and leadership skills, increase educational performance, and gain confidence in their ability to compete professionally. You can join a cohort of students on a similar path to you for support and motivation. This community of learners, with a very specialized focus, is what sets the STEM MESA Program apart from other student success programs.

The Learning Resource Center offers learning assistance (both individual and group), topic-specific workshops, review sessions, and mock exams -- all free of charge! These resources serve all of our students and are designed for the successful completion of your classes, programs, and certificates.

Math Center

Math students can meet with tutors one-on-one or in groups for assistance in the Math Tutoring Center (East Campus, CMS Building) in CMS-121 or online!

Science Center

Science students can join study groups or receive one-on-one tutoring in the Science Tutoring Center located in CMS 127 Science Tutoring Center or online

  • Learning support is based on tutor availability and is subject to change without notice. 

  • We do not offer tutoring for courseware/software or applications used in your coursework. Please contact your instructor to schedule an office hour appointment for one-on-one support. 
Writing Center

The Writing Center is located on the first floor of the LRC Building (Main Campus) for help with all your written assignments and general tutoring for non-STEM courses. Meet with tutors one-on-one or in groups for assistance on campus or online!

While we work to foster success in the short-term learning goals our students bring to us, we believe in the LRC's ability to promote long-term academic success and create lifelong learners. Therefore, the Writing Center staff is not available to proofread your papers or fix your grammar/syntax. Please use NetTutor's paper drop-off center, Microsoft Word, or other applications such as Grammarly for more assistance. 

Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) has agreements with universities and colleges that give students who participate in the Honors Program various transfer application advantages, the most important being priority admission.

Interested in transferring to UCLA? 
If you are interested in transferring to UCLA, we have a special honors transfer program called the UCLA Transfer Alliance/Honors Program (TAP). Over 90% of our Certified Honors Students are accepted into UCLA (vs. less than 20% of non-certified students that are accepted).

Traditionally, summer research and internship applications open sometime in December and close in March. Don't miss out on the chance to gain valuable experience, make meaningful contributions, and prepare for a successful career in STEM.

We are excited to announce a cross-campus collaboration with Los Angeles Valley College and Los Angeles Pierce College for the annual Women in STEM Panel. Join us to hear from women in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields at this special event! You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the next steps you should take to achieve your goals.

The event will feature a Panel Q&A session, followed by a "Meet the Panelists" reception.
