ADA Compliance

Los Angeles Mission College is committed to creating and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive educational and working environment for people of all abilities. Mission College remains committed to the principles of equal access and opportunity for individuals with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA), and applicable sections of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. As such, no qualified individual with a disability shall, on the basis of disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of Mission College or be subjected to discrimination.

Mission College requires that a reasonable accommodation be made for participation in and equal access to programs, services, activities, or facilities unless the accommodation would result in undue hardship or threaten the health and safety of Mission College employees or other participants.

Students and employees with disabilities have the same obligation as all members of the community to meet and maintain the institution’s job performance, academic and technical standards, and codes of conduct.

Mission College’s ADA Coordinator coordinates campus-wide compliance with the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Campus Access

Mission College’s Facilities Office has been designated to coordinate compliance with ADA physical access requirements. The office maintains the Mission College’s Transition Plan and has stewardship of campus data on the physical accessibility of building interiors and paths of travel. It handles inquiries and provides access solutions to existing rooms, meeting or event places and sports arenas, facilities and paths of travel, handles requests for accommodations and complaints about access, and coordinates with Mission College’s Enterprise Office to provide construction notices.

The office also provides strategies for the safety of persons with disabilities during evacuation or emergency.
