New Students
New Students Receiving VA Benefits
- Step 1 - Apply Online to Los Angeles Mission College
- Step 2 - Apply for VA Educational Benefits and Obtain a Certificate of Eligibility letter: https://www.vets.gov/education/apply/
- Step 3 - Send Official Transcripts to Admissions from all previous colleges attended.
- Step 4 - Sign up for a Mandatory Orientation. Orientation provides important information about college resources.
- Step 5 - Meet with the Veterans Counselor to discuss your Education Goals and develop an Educational Plan. To make an appointment, contact the VRC Cranium Cafe Counter.
- Step 6 - Apply for Financial Aid. All students are encouraged to apply. Start by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov
- Step 7 - Choose your courses from the Schedule of Classes and Register Online.
- Step 8 - If you are a Veteran, Active Military, Reservist or National Guardsmen, take your DD214 or Military ID to Admission and Records to get Priority Registration. Review www.gibill.va.gov to learn about VA Educational Benefits.
- Step 9 - Certification of Benefits. Email the VRC and fill out the Veterans Intake packet and a Request for Benefits to receive your VA Educational Benefits.
- Step 10 - Enjoy your classes!
