Ask AVA a question today!

Grammarly will automatically detect any grammar, spelling, punctuation, word choice, and style mistakes in your writing.

In the spirit of academic honesty: ask your instructor if you are allowed to use Grammarly for your assignments!

How does Grammarly work?

Grammarly’s algorithms flag potential issues in the text and suggest context-specific corrections for grammar, spelling, wordiness, style, punctuation, and even plagiarism.

Grammarly will also explain the reasoning behind each correction. This way, you can make an informed decision about whether, and how, to correct an issue.

MLA or APA formatting getting you down? It's okay -- we're thrilled to introduce you to OSCAR, your new favorite Online Style and Citation Accuracy Resource.

Upload the current draft of your assignment and take note of OSCAR's advice.

Note: OSCAR will not make changes for you, but he can give instructions for how you can make them happen!

Because faculty need resources too!

Getting Started:

  1. Copy and paste the HTML code from your Canvas page into Joshua.
  2. Replace your old code with Joshua's code and save your Canvas page.

You can also restart the app by clicking on the two circular arrows at the page's top right corner.

  • If tables are used and no table sizing is listed, the table width will be coded at 100% and the text will be left-aligned, unless otherwise requested.

In the same way you can bring your class to the Library for a workshop on MLA or APA conventions, we can bring a tutor-authored, tutor-powered workshop to your classroom.

Students love our workshops because our tutors are great at creating a relaxed, peer-to-peer space to ask questions and get personalized tips. Plus, our workshops are packed with fun, hands-on activities that help students practice and apply their knowledge.

Interested in booking a workshop just for your class? Fill out the

 Workshop Request Form

and we'll take it from there.

What is embedded tutoring?

Embedded tutoring is a collaborative educational practice where a tutor is integrated into a specific course to support students directly within the classroom setting, specifically the lab component of your class. This practice is particularly helpful for students who may feel ambivalence, apathy, or even anxiety about seeking academic support.

Role of the embedded tutor

First and foremost, embedded tutors are there to support your students by modeling, enforcing, and maintaining a culture of academic rigor in your classroom. Outside of providing one-on-one support during the lab component of your class, this also means hosting office hours and even leading workshops so students can supplement their learning.

Additionally, the embedded tutor serves an intermediary for students, voicing concerns and ideas to the instructor based on student feedback.

Our embedded tutors are trained to:

  • Identify the demands of your course and your students.
  • Create and lead subject-specific workshops with low-stakes activities to help students practice and apply their knowledge.
  • And of course, work with students who would benefit greatly from more one-on-one time.

If you believe your class would benefit from an embedded tutor, you may fill out our:

Embedded Tutoring Request Form

Please note: our ability to provide your class(es) with an embedded tutor is based on tutor availability.
