Faculty Support

Library Tours, Orientations, and Assignment Specific Library Instruction

You may request a library orientation conducted by an LAMC Librarian over Zoom. Librarians can also create assignment-specific video tutorials for you to provide to your students. Finally, we can create a research module for Canvas including videos and texts to help support student research needs.

Research Guides

21st Century research guides are general, subject, or assignment specific guides compiled by LAMC librarians in collaboration with faculty. Using our LibGuides platform we can create a simple website based on your research assignment to more easily provide students guidance and instructions for finding credible sources. Contact a librarian today and make one for your class! Take a look at the guides we have already created

Reserve Items

It is very helpful to students to have class materials, especially textbooks, available in case they do not have a copy. If you have a spare textbook, please contact the Library so we can make the material available. Material can remain yours or can be donated to the Library.

Open Educational Resources

Find information on OER and ZTC resources and how to flag your class in the online schedule. Visit the LAMC OER Guide

Reference Services

A reference librarian is available to help find information and provide instruction in the use of the library and its resources, either to groups or individuals. Please check with a reference librarian to see if the library has resources to support your class assignment. We also have an online chat service available 24 hours a day. If you'd like the link to embed this chat into your Canvas course, please let us know. (818) 364-7600 ext: 7105.

Databases--available 24/7

Find e-books, articles in periodicals and newspapers and reference information online through our LAMC Library Databases

Requesting a Book

If you would like the Library to consider acquiring a book, please use the Book Request Form. The library will not purchase items that are owned and currently checked out. We cannot guarantee that all items will be purchased nor can we guarantee how long an item will take to acquire. The library does not purchase textbooks, we rely on instructor's donations to supply Reserve textbooks to our students.

What you can do to help your students and library

If you use reading lists in your classes, please send us a copy so that we can make as much of the material available as possible.
