MISSION COLLEGE STUDENTS BAKE COOKIES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
Lots of people bake cookies during the holidays to relax. Los Angeles Mission College students will be doing it for a good cause.
About 30 culinary arts students will enter gingerbread cookies in a competition designed to raise money for scholarships. Entered cookies, which must measure at least six inches, will be judged on their creativity. The "entry fee" for contestants is two dozen cookies, one dozen of which will be donated to MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), a Pacoima volunteer group. The other dozen will be sold to raise the scholarship funds.
The competition takes place on November 16, 2002, and will be part of the regional meeting of the International Food Service Executive Association, a group of food industry executives. The event begins at 10 a.m.
