Propositions A and A A, campus expansion and renovation

In 2001 and again in 2003, voters overwhelmingly approved two historic measures designed to revitalize and improve the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. As a result of these bonds — Proposition A (2001) and Proposition AA (2003) — the "look" of Mission College is expected to change dramatically in the next few years. This page is dedicated to informing you about plans for the construction of new buildings, campus expansion, and renovations.

Work Underway on Parking Structure
Construction began in January 2006 on Mission College’s $20-million parking structure. The new, tri-level parking facility will include state-of-the-art lighting and security, accommodations for the disabled, and energy-producing panels on the top level. The new structure will be a major step toward helping the college meet its current and future parking needs.

Los Angeles Mission College was founded in 1975. For the first 16 years of its existence, the college operated out of scattered storefronts throughout the northeast San Fernando Valley. In 1991, the college moved to its permanent home – a 22-acre campus in Sylmar. Although Mission College remains one of the most contemporary community colleges in the state, it still lacks many of the facilities usually identified with a college. Through Propositions A and AA, Mission College is expected to largely complete its campus by adding a media arts center, a family and consumer studies center, physical fitness center, larger bookstore, and adequate parking.
