Help Us Celebrate Latino Heritage Month!

From September 15 through October 15, Los Angeles Mission College will be celebrating Latino Heritage Month with a series of informative and exciting events. Join us as we honor the contributions of Latino leaders who strive to motivate others to succeed!

Sept 19 – Chicano Studies Professor John Morales will be hosting a screening of Los Vendidos followed by a panel discussion featuring LAMC Dean Carlos Gonzalez, Lea Gonzalez, Mariela Avalos and Luis Perez – 7 pm on ZOOM.

Sept 21 – The Kadima String Quartet will performing music by Turina, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Santana, and more! – 12:30 pm in the AMP Theater.

Sept 22–24 – The Latino Theater Co. presents Melancholia, an Iraq war-themed theater production that examines the effects of combat fatigue, shell shock, and PTSD. All performances start at 7 pm in the CSB parking lot. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10.

Sept 26 – Carlos Puma will showcase and discuss his 40-year journey as a photographer. Professor Gustavo Jimenez will also be on hand to give a presentation on Chicano Art and The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture Museum. – 7 pm on ZOOM.

Oct 3  –  “Latinas in Leadership” Career Path Panel & Discussion featuring LAMC alumni and administration – 12:30–2 pm in Campus Center Main and on ZOOM.

Oct 10–13 – Our Culinary department will feature a special menu to celebrate Latino Heritage – available in the Student Dining area.
