The health care industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in the United States. This rapid growth has created many employment opportunities in the health field. Consequently, there is a need to introduce students to the broad range of job opportunities in the health occupations. According to labormarketinfo.edd.ca.gov, the projected employment (2012-2022) is 37,200, which indicates an 18.5% increase in California. Pharmacy Technician is one of the top 10 growing occupations in Los Angeles County (2010-2020 Fastest Growing Occupations, Employment Development Department, Sept. 2012).
This program is designed to prepare students for a career in pharmacy. Upon successful completion of the required coursework students are eligible to apply for the State of California Pharmacy Technician licensure and are prepared to work in outpatient, inpatient, and home health care pharmacy settings.
