The Nutrition Discipline provides excellent academic pathways in the field of nutrition, dietetics and food science.

  • Courses transfer to four-year institutions in preparation to continue your education in nutrition, dietetics, and/or food science.

  • An Associate of Science Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics for Transfer 

  • Coming Soon (Fall, 2022)!  A Certificate in Nutrition & Food Skills which can be completed in 1 semester so you can start working in entry-level jobs and "earn while you learn."

  • ​Part of CSUN's "Pathways" to Success Program for Hispanic Students to become Registered Dietitians

Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution should consult the Counseling Department and Faculty Nutrition Advisor Sheri Barke for assistance in program planning.

 

PROGRAM EMPHASIS

Course work instructs students in the scientific and practical principles of food and nutrition as it applies to achieving optimal health and human performance, preventing chronic diseases, and managing food service operations.

 

CAREER OPTIONS

Nutrition programs enable students to seek employment and earn higher degrees for career advancement in the field of food, nutrition and dietetics. Some areas of employment include: healthcare, sports nutrition, public health, education, research, food science/technology and food service management.
