Welcome to my Website!
Welcome to Los Angeles Mission College!
We are delighted to have students such as yourself in our programs. I am sure that you are committed to do great in your classes.
Before enrolling in the science courses please read the following statements:
1) I am ready and eager to start with my science classes. I am aware that these classes are rigorous and require different learning strategies than I used to study for English or Sociology courses.
2) I have time to study every day (at least 6-9 hours per week at home), read the book, attend tutoring, and do my homework.
3) I get enough sleep before my early class.
4) I know that I can ask for help if I need support.
If you feel the same way, you are ready to sign up for my science classes. If you are not sure, please come and see me before enrolling. Keep in mind that you can repeat a course two times; take your classes when you are ready. Your GPA matters when you are ready to transfer.
If ready, welcome and log into Canvas (will be open one week before the semester starts) to start the class and to get all the information that you will need! Let us start a great journey together!
Please print and read the syllabus thoroughly. Purchase the book and the lab manual before the semester starts. Be ready!

A note from Steve Ruiz, a former student:
"The pace of the class is more similar to a math class rather than an english or speech class where someone could miss either part or a whole lecture and not be worried about being left too confused. But as in most Math classes the lessons build upon each other. I didn't think missing any part of any lecture could detriment my learning process. But in truth missing just one hour can pose as an obstacle towards being able to fully comprehend the following chapters.
I just think telling someone that this class has an upbeat rhythm is a good start but also in order to stay in sync with the tempo of the course you need to stay focused on the lessons that are presented at each and every lecture whether you are there or not. However, just in case you should happen to miss a class (life does happen) then to fiercely seek out the knowledge that you did not get to instill in them through classmates and study groups."
Bottom line is 'want', how much & how bad? They should want this class badly. They should have a deep yearning and desire to put the knowledge of this class to good use in their own lives. It's not a grade based solely on attendance."
