Attendance Policy
Spring 2012 ESL 3A evening section is full. There is a limit of 40 students for this class.
If you are enrolled in the class, but you do not attend the first night of class, I will drop you from the class that night. I will not reinstate you. If you cannot attend the first night, you must contact me by the end of class that night. Use the Mission webpage to send me an email or send word with another student. If you are a "no show," and I do not know that you had an emergency but will come back, I need to drop you right away. Other students are trying to add the class. If they are there, but you are not, they will take your place.
TRYING TO ADD? This session I am going to try the LOTTERY policy. You will write your name next to a number. I will randomly draw numbers depending on how many people on my roster did not come to class the first night. If I pull your number out of the bag, I will give you an add slip. Remember, there is a limit of 40 students in the class.
Please be serious about your attendance. I know that it is harder for night students. Many night students work all day, have children to take care of, have transportation problems, etc. I understand this situation, but the class requires weekly attendance. If you are absent, you miss the things you need to pass. Poor attendance leads to failure in the class. If you have a work schedule or other issues that cause you to be late or absent, you will probably not pass the class. School policy allows me to drop you if you miss six (6) hours of class.
Thank you in advance for good attendance and a serious work ethic.
