STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Program Welcomes Summer Academy Students
Research suggests that college-going is a learned skill that students must be taught “how to do” for greater academic success. The STEM Program followed that recommendation by hosting an orientation for its Summer Academy on June 27th. Over 100 students and their families attended the two-hour session that included a presentation by the Project Director, staff introduction and a campus tour. During the Summer Academy, students will enroll in a Personal Development course that will reinforce key elements in being a successful college student. This course is in addition to the Math Boot Camp and Writing for Science that makeup the five-week intensive Summer Academy. Offered for the first time at Mission, the STEM Summer Academy will start on July 9 to August 9.
