HONORS/TRANSFER ALLIANCE PROGRAM
Completing an
Honors Contract
Students receive Honors credit
by completing an Honors Contract in any UC transferable course. In consultation
with the instructor, the student develops a proposal for an Honors research
project. In most cases, the project should be a written assignment that
displays interpretation and critical analysis of academic texts (journal
articles or books written by experts in an academic discipline). The proposal
is submitted to the Honors coordinator and evaluated by the Honors Advisory
Committee. The committee will either approve the project or suggest revisions. When
the final project is completed, the student must submit one copy to the
instructor and a second copy to the Honors Coordinator. If the advisory
committee approves the project, the student will receive an Honors notation on
his/her transcript indicating that the course was completed for Honors credit.
Honors
Certification
Students receive Honors
Certification by completing a total of six Honors Contracts. Certified students
receive access to a variety of scholarship opportunities and priority
consideration for admission to UCLA, UCI, UCR, UCSC, Occidental College,
Chapman University, Claremont College, Pomona Pitzer, La Sierra University,
Whitman College, Pacific University, CSU Fullerton, CSU Stanislaus, and CSU San
Diego.
