One College – One Book

Dear Faculty and Staff,

For your summer reading pleasure, please find the attached list of books submitted to the One Book – One College Committee for possible adoption for our college-wide reading project. We hope you will read at least one of these books and give us your feedback as to its suitability for our project. The evaluation form is also attached.

In the fall the committee will meet to review the book evaluations and choose three to five titles to submit to the language developmental education disciplines who will make the final choice. Our first One College – One Book campus-wide reading will begin in Spring 2008.

Please keep in mind as you read and evaluate this summer that most of our developmental reading classes in English, ESL, and Developmental Communications will be reading the book in spring as part of their curricula. Additionally, we hope that some of the social science disciplines might find the book useful in their curricula. All other students will choose to read it independently as part of the greater college endeavor.
