Stop AAPI Hate

From President Monte E. Perez

Dear LAMC Community,

This week's killing rampage in the Atlanta area reminds us yet again of the racism, hatred and violence against our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) brothers and sisters.

This was a senseless and hateful act. But it is not an isolated incident. For sometime, the AAPI community has faced discrimination, hate, violence and threats of violence in this nation.

We must stand with our Asian American and Pacific Islander neighbors, co-workers and families to end this disease plaguing our country. Let us pray for the victims and their loved ones. Let us re-double our efforts to establish our college, state and nation as anti-racist.

When one of us falls, we all fall. When we stand firmly together for love, peace, and caring for all people in our multi-cultural society, we all win. Let us stand now in unity to combat racism and hatred toward the AAPI community.

During this difficult time, we understand if some of you might need access to counseling and support services. Students can contact the Center for Wellness during hours of operation, or Care Solace after hours to get connected with counseling referrals. Faculty and staff can contact the District's Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

We shall overcome.

Sincerely,

Monte Perez Signature
