Meet the Lawyers of MABA (Mexican American Bar Association) 

The Pathway to Law and Paralegal Studies program invites you to the "Meet the Lawyers of MABA" panel discussion.

If you are interested in law school, this is your opportunity to learn from professionals on what motivated them to become lawyers. Come hear their personal stories of challenges and successes in college, law school, and their areas of practice.

Presenters: 

  • Oscar Rene Gutierrez, Trial Attorney, president of the Mexican American Bar Association of Los Angeles County (MABA).
  • Marisa Hernandez-Stern, Deputy Attorney General in the California Department of Justice’s Worker Rights and Fair Labor Bureau, Civil Rights Enforcement Section.
  • Leonard Torrealba, Trial lawyer for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for 32 years.
  • Eric Canton, Trial attorney at the Law Offices of Brian D. Witzer, Inc., representing individuals throughout California who have been injured by the wrongful and negligent acts of others
  • Heriberto Veliz, Attorney at Perez and Caballero, representing plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, and wrongful death cases
  • Magdalena Casas, Deputy City Attorney with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office specially assigned to the DUI-Drugs Unit.
