MISSION COLLEGE HOSTS The work of student artists
and art instructors will be on display when Mission College hosts its
annual Multimedia Art Show from May 17-23. A reception on Saturday, May
17 will help kick off the weeklong event. The public is invited to attend
the 6 to 10 p.m. event and view firsthand the transformation of the South
Atrium into an art and multimedia extravaganza. The Mission College Culinary
Arts department will display its own creative skills, serving up edible
works of art, free of charge, at the opening reception. Theme of the 5th annual Multimedia
Art Show is "From Behind the Mind," a tribute to the inspiration
that drives artists. On display will be paintings, drawings, sculpture,
film, audio digital sound, digital art and other works by students in
Mission College's art and multimedia programs. New this year, four artists
will display their installation works in the college's Quad area and inside
the Instructional Building. These stunning, sculptural, site-specific
works will greet passers-by and are designed to respond to the landscape
and architecture of the campus, bringing a new awareness and surprise
to features often overlooked. Those who cannot attend the opening reception are invited to visit the college through May 23 (except Sunday) and see the continuing exhibition of artwork from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. # # # |
