Los Angeles Mission College
will honor 14 students who were called to duty in the months before and
during the war in Iraq. The students have resumed, or begun, their higher
education after completing their military duties. Nine of the students
served in Iraq, the Persian Gulf or elsewhere in the Middle East during
the war. The other five were called to posts in the U.S. for duty related
to the Iraqi conflict.

The program will also pay tribute
to a former Mission College student, U.S. Naval Reserve Petty Officer
Herman "Bud" Bolte, who died in a highway accident last August.
Bolte was also called to active duty during the war and was stationed
on a Navy ship in the Persian Gulf during the conflict.
The program will include a demonstration of tactics by Company A of the
1-184th Air Assault
Infantry Battalion.
Los Angeles Mission College holds a Veterans Day Ceremony annually to
mark its close ties with veterans in the northeast San Fernando Valley.
Each year, Mission College serves more than 400 veterans who come to the
campus with questions about their benefits and about educational and career
opportunities available to them.
