Under clear and sunny skies, the Mission College Class of 2007 celebrated Commencement on the Quad on June 5. The day started out with both graduates and faculty putting on robes at pre-Commencement gatherings. Retiring instructor Sandra Lampert led the platform party, fellow faculty members, and graduates into the Quad ceremony area. President Ernest H. Moreno and Los Angeles Community College District Trustee Warren Furutani offered words of praise and congratulations to the graduating class. Keynote speaker Dr. Yvonne Chan, principal of the Vaughn Learning Center in San Fernando, spoke about future responsibilities and possibilities facing the graduates. The class totals more than 400 graduates, ranging in age from 15 to 74. Jose Luis Ramirez and Jody Cote are the class Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively. An audience of about 1,500 attended the 32nd annual Commencement ceremony, cheering loudly as each graduate's name was called. Congratulations to Class of 2007!
