February 5, 2007
Under warm, sunny skies, Mission College launched its spring 2007 semester on February 5. “Help teams” were on campus to answer new students’ questions and to direct them to classes. Instructors handed out first week assignments, as students rushed to get needed class textbooks from the Bookstore, where they got help from ASO President Jesse Martinez. The ultra-modern Learning Resources Center, with its bank of 70 high-speed computers, was a busy place. Students continued to enroll throughout the day, checking on classes either the old-fashioned "bulletin board" way or by using high-tech computers in the Student Annex. About 7,000 students are enrolled in Mission College this semester – taking advantage of the new, low $20 per unit tuition rate.
