FOOD, WINE FESTIVAL AT MISSION
COLLEGE A little bit of Wine Country
comes to the San Fernando Valley when Los Angeles Mission College sponsors
a Food and Wine Festival on Saturday, May 10. Gourmands and wine aficionados
will have an opportunity to sample fine wines, taste gourmet dishes, and
will be treated to culinary demonstrations by master chefs from the Playboy
Mansion, Cheesecake Factory, Lakeside Country Club and others. More than
50 restaurants, caterers, wineries, wine distributors and other businesses
are donating gifts, goods and services to the fundraiser. There will be prizes and raffles
throughout the event, which will be held in Campus Center at the college,
13356 Eldridge Ave., Sylmar. Tickets to attend a private
preview from 1 to 2 p.m. are $100. These donors will be treated to preferred
parking, shorter lines at the serving and tasting tables and an opportunity
to bid in a silent auction featuring premium wines, a gourmet meal prepared
by Mission College Chef Rudy Garcia, gift baskets and other amenities. Tickets for the public festival
from 2 to 5 p.m. are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For ticket information,
call (818) 364-7796. Tickets are tax deductible. The event is sponsored jointly
by the Los Angeles Mission College Foundation, a college support group,
and the college's Culinary Arts Institute. "This event is going to
be a lot of fun, and we'll be raising scholarship money in the process,"
said Gary Bombalicki, president of the Mission College Foundation. For more information about the event, visit www.lamission.edu/festival. # # # |
