Spring
Semester In Review:
Campus Highlights in Pictures
Happiness
is being recognized for your hard
work, as was Julie Hein during the
Spring Honors Reception. More than
600 of Mission Colleges top
scholars were honored for grade point
averages that landed them on the Deans
or Presidents lists.
Denim Day in April
was dedicated to getting out the word
that sexual assault against women
is unacceptable. Vanessa Monis was
among the many students who wrote
anti-violence messages on t-shirts
that were then strung on a clothesline
across the Quad.
The Mission College
Foundation raised thousands of dollars
for scholarships at its annual Springfest
Food and Wine Festival. Guests had
a great time sampling gourmet food
and fine wines.
In May, MECHA organized
a full day of fun and educational
activities to commemorate Cinco de
Mayo. When it was over, the Mechistas
gathered for a group photo.
The renowned East West
Players performed the musical Manzanar
at Mission College in May. After the
show, students had lots of questions
for the actors.
Campus organizations
sponsored a week in March dedicated
to marking the second anniversary
of the start of the war in Iraq. Several
guest speakers were part of the weeks
activities.
The
Mission College table
stood and applauded when the top prize
at the districts annual Workforce
Awards ceremony was announced. LAMC's
Careers in Child Care Training Program
was selected the most outstanding
workforce program in the district.
