Plans
are in place to begin construction of Parking
Structure A during the fall semester, said Dr. Adriana
Barrera, college president.
The three-story parking facility will be built on the present
site of the student parking lot. A temporary parking lot near
Hubbard Street and the 210 Freeway is being prepared for use
by students during the anticipated 18-month construction period
of the new structure.
During that period, shuttle service from the temporary parking
lot to the Mission College campus will be available at no
cost to students with shuttles running approximately
every 15 minutes during peak class times.
Students will not be charged parking fees during the period
that the new parking structure is being built, Dr. Barrera
said.
"Parking
Structure A" is one of Mission Colleges Proposition
A campus improvements projects. The covered, three-story facility
will double the amount of parking space available for students.
As an added bonus, it will have photovoltaic units on the
top level which will generate some power for the campus.
