LAMC Celebrates Veterans Day

Los Angeles Mission College Veteran Affairs Program celebrates Veterans Day with a ceremony on Tuesday, November 06, 2012. The event honored veterans from past and present wars, but was especially dedicated to providing information of resources to assist the veterans enrolled at LAMC with the barriers that hinder academic success. These free services provide assistance with personal counseling, employment, medical needs and housing for all veterans and their families.
The ceremony began with bugle call and a Presentation of Colors by the United States Army included LAMC student and Marine Corp veteran, Mr. Nestor Escobar, as the Keynote speaker. As a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Mr. Escobar's sharing of his active duty experiences was notably moving. Edward Raskin, LAMC faculty and Air Force Veteran also spoke in support of veteran students.
