MDTP ALGEBRA READINESS TEST

The Algebra Readiness Test was designed to measure arithmetic and pre-algebra skills to determine readiness for a first course in algebra.

 

You should take the Algebra Readiness Test if:

 

You had no high school algebra.

You had one year of high school algebra or the equivalent.

It has been several years since your last math class.

 

Skills measured on the Algebra Readiness Test are:

 

Integers

Fractions

Decimals and Percent

Exponents and Square Roots

Simple Equations and Operations with Literal Symbols

Geometry and Graphing

MDTP ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA TEST

The Elementary Algebra Test was designed to determine readiness for a second-year algebra course.

 

You should take the Elementary Algebra Test if:

 

you had 2 or more years of high school algebra or the equivalent and

you received a grade of "C" or better in your last math course and

you completed your last math course within the last two years.

 

Skills measured on the Elementary Algebra Test are:


Arithmetic Operations

Polynomials

Linear Equations and Inequalities

Quadratic Equations

Graphing

Rational Expressions

Exponents and Square Roots

Geometry

Word Problems

MDTP INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA TEST

The Intermediate Algebra Test was designed to determine readiness for a transfer level mathematics course.

 

You should take the Intermediate Algebra Test if:

 

you had 2 or more years of high school Algebra or the equivalent

(This must include Algebra 2a and 2b, LAUSD numbering) and

you received a grade of "B" or better in your last math course and

you completed your last math course within the last year.


Skills measured on the Intermediate Algebra Test are:

 

Elementary Operations

Exponents and Radicals

Graphing and Coordinate Geometry

Linear Equations and Inequalities

Logarithms and Functions

Quadratic Polynomials, Equations, and Inequalities

Rational Expressions

MDTP PRECALCULUS TEST

The Precalculus Test was designed to determine readiness for a college level Calculus course.

 

You should take the Precalculus Test if:

 

you had at least one year of high school Math Analysis or the equivalent and

you received a grade of "B" or better in your last math course and

you completed your last math course within the last year.

 

Skills measured on the Precalculus Test are:

 

Exponents and Radicals

Functions

Linear Equations and Inequalities, and Absolute Values

Logarithmic and Exponential Functions

Polynomials and Polynomial Functions

Rational Expressions and their Graphs

Trigonometry

Word Problems
