Director's Message
Welcome to the Learning Center at Los Angeles Mission College--a "HUB" of activities designed to support student success.
I began my academic career at a community college. As a first generation college student, I found negotiating the new roads into higher education difficult at times. Thankfully, the instructors and student support services on that campus helped me to see my own potential and helped me achieve my dream of becoming an educator. Our Learning Center staff and I are dedicated to supporting your success. We hope you will share your dreams with us and let us help you to realize your academic goals.
I hope you find our services helpful and effective in meeting your academic needs. We are working to make your college experience a positive, productive, and enjoyable one.
The Academic Success Center's writing and reading labs, the Science Success Center, and Math Center are each staffed with tutors and who have been trained to help you become independent thinkers and learners. Each lab has its own room and setting to target the subjects being tutored. In the Learning Lab area of the Computer Commons, we have new computers with reading, writing, and mathematics software for you to work at your own pace. All computers in the Computer Commons have free Internet access.
I invite you to visit the different tutoring labs, explore the computer programs available and give us feedback on how we are doing and how we can better help you.
