Our GED Center offers preparation classes for students and community members who do not have a high school diploma but want to:
- Get a better job or advance in their current one,
- Continue their education at a college/university level, or
- Reach personal goals
These classes are designed to prepare students in the different subjects included in the State GED test. Once you pass the state test you will receive a certificate that is equivalent to a high school diploma.
We have free math, writing and reading tutoring services for GED students. You will also have access to a GED computer program that allows you to work at your own pace, before or after class.
As a first step, each student will be given a pre-test test to determine the areas on which he/she needs to work on. It will take you about two hours to complete the pre-test but there is no time limit set; you can do one section only and come back later on to continue working on it or finish it all in one day. We will have your score two days after you finish the pre-test. All students scoring below 80% in any given section will be recommended to take the corresponding GED preparation class (click on the Fall 2006 GED Classes link below to see the list and schedule of classes). There is open enrollment through the first half of the semester.
Students scoring more than 80% in all subjects are ready to pass the GED test and will be referred to a GED Test Center.
The Pre-test is absolutely free. No application or appointment is needed.
