COMMITTEE PROJECTS

PROJECT: Maintain a permanent CASFAA presence at the NACAC/WACAC College Fairs

We've posted strings of emails sent between Dennis and key personnel at NACAC and WACACin setting up our involvement at the fairs.

Email sent March 24th from Dennis to Lindsay Schlauch, Events Manager with NACAC (located in Alexandria, VA):

To: lschlauch@nacac.com
Subject: SoCal NACAC college fairs and CASFAA involvement

As you requested, here's the information about my request.

I serve as the co-chair to the CASFAA (California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators) committee on High School Relations.  As part of our committee's activities, we have provided volunteers from our committee and the CASFAA membership to assist at the information booth at both NACAC and WACAC college fairs in California.  Our members and volunteers are financial aid and associated professionals.  We have assisted at the California college fairs for the last 3 years, providing students and parents with unbiased information about the financial aid process.

We would like to continue this working relationship with NACAC this year for the college fairs you have scheduled in California from April 12-25 in San Francisco and southern California.

We are able to provide volunteers from our committee and CASFAA members, along with state-provided publications: the California Student Aid Commissions's "Fund Your Future" workbooks and brochures.

Please review the information above, passing it on to the appropriate local organizing commitees for their consideration.  If you or anyone else has any questions, please feel free to contact me at 818-240-1000 extension 5433 or by email at denniss@glendale.edu, or contact my co-chair Beryl Schantz of EdFund at bschantz@edfund.org.

Thank you for your time on this topic.

Dennis,
I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Please see below for

love to have you in attendance at the fair. Thank you for getting in
touch with me and please let me know if I can do anything else for you.

LOS ANGELES:
My experience with CASFAA has been positive.  They usually send someone
to work in the Counseling Center and answer questions about the
financial aid process.  We have had very good representatives at the LA
Fair in the past.I welcome their presence.
Mary

SAN FRANCISCO:
I think it is fine to have someone from a sister organization (CASFAA)
to sit in the counseling area or someplace else who can be on hand to
speak about fin aid.
Chris

SAN DIEGO:
Yes, CASFAA is a good group to work with.
Frank

Email sent April 8th to Afiya Catlin, Lindsay Schlauch, and Greg Ferguson (all at NACAC) from Dennis as an update:

To: Afiya Catlin <Acatlin@NACAC.com>, Lindsay Schlauch <lschlauch@NACAC.com>

  fairs
Cc: Greg Ferguson <gferguso@nacac.com>, Beryl Schantz <bschantz@edfund.org>,

I just wanted to pass along an updated list from the CASFAA High School Relations Commiteee and other CASFAA members who have volunteered and are ready to volunteer for the NACAC College Fairs in Southern California.

Although I have not heard back regarding the Inland Empire/Ontario or Anaheim/Orange County college fairs, we have people ready to commit to assist in the resouce area and answer financial aid questions for your students and parents.  Please let me know if we will be wanted at these two sites.  We soon will add a few more volunteers to the time slots that have only one person listed at this moment.

Otherwise we are all ready and set to help out at the college fairs this year and hope to continue this alliance into the future.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need additional information.
