To apply for federal and state financial aid, you need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year of college. The FAFSA can be easily completed online at www.fafsa.gov. The form is available annually, starting January 1, for the following academic year. We encourage students to apply early, as some financial aid sources are limited and awarded to students who apply early and have financial need. When completing your FAFSA online, don't forget to list Los Angeles Mission College (School Code: 012550) so that we receive your processed results.
Once you have submitted your FAFSA, you will receive your results (known as the Student Aid Report). All schools listed on your FAFSA will also receive your results. The Financial Aid Office will send a letter or email to you regarding any documents or forms we need to complete your file.
After your SAR information and any requested items are received and reviewed, the Financial Aid Office will send you a letter or email with your Award Letter, detailing the financial aid you are eligible for at LA Mission College. Read your letter and any other supplied information as it will give you all the details on your financial aid eligibility.
Financial aid refunds (disbursements) are delivered to financial aid recipients via the myLACCDcard. New financial aid applicants to the LACCD will be mailed a myLACCDcard to the mailing address on file with the Admissions & Records Office. The myLACCDcard is the key for students in selecting how to receive their financial aid refunds. Students should NOT throw away their cards! With the myLACCDcard, students will be able to make choices on how to receive their financial aid funds. There are TWO options to choose from:
1. EASY REFUND: This is an electronic deposit to your myLACCDcard (which can function like a debit card). With this option, students are opening a checking account through Higher One (the issuer of the myLACCDcard) at which time your myLACCDcard becomes an active debit MasterCard. Student refunds will be deposited to your Higher One account (also known as a OneAccount). Students can make purchases using their myLACCDcard (wherevere MasterCard is accepted) or withdraw cash from any Higher One ATM (each LACCD campus has at least two ATMs).
2. ELECTRONIC DEPOSIT (ACH): With this option, students authorize Higher One to forward their financial aid disbursement/refund to a back account of your choosing. Students will need to supply their bank's information (check or savings account number), including your bank's routing number. To access their financial aid funds, students will then need to use their bank-issued checks and/or debit card.
FYI: The Higher One ATMs at LA Mission College are located at the Campus Center (near the interior stairwell) and the Culinary Arts Institute (in the lobby between the cafeteria and school bookstore).
To apply for scholarships through the Financial Aid Office at Los Angeles Mission College, check out the “Scholarships” link on the left.
A special note for students enrolled in ITV classes: If you are enrolled in only ITV classes for a semester, your financial aid needs to be processed in the LA Mission College Financial Aid Office. If you are enrolled in ITV classes and classes at another college in the LACCD (Los Angeles Community College District, which includes LA Mission College), then your financial aid is processed the college you are enrolled at concurrently (City, East, Harbor, Mission, Pierce, Southwest, Trade-Tech, Valley, or West).
