An introductory course in the principles of microeconomic theory, including
economic analysis of the firm and resource allocation; analysis of the
laws of supply and demand; market structures of the American economy;
price theory; current domestic economic problems. Acceptable for credit:
UCLA, CSUN: Economics 160.
2 PRINCIPLES
OF ECONOMICS II
(CAN ECON 2)
Prerequisite: None | Lecture: 3 hours. UC:CSU 3 UNITS
This is an introductory course in the principles of macroeconomic theory.
Measurement of aggregate economic performance, including GNP and national
income, money and banking business cycle, role of government and the Federal
Reserve System (fiscal and monetary policies), economic growth and
stability, international trade, and economics of under development are
covered in this course. Acceptable for credit: UCLA, CSUN: Economics 161.
4 ECONOMICS
FOR THE CONSUMER
Prerequisite: None | Lecture: 3 hours. 3 UNITS
The student will learn about budgeting a limited income. Consumer preferences,
influences of advertising, and other factors related to consumer expenditures
will be considered. Financial institutions and their relationship to the
consumer will be analyzed. Savings, consumer aids, insurance, and investments
will be detailed.

HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES
Prerequisite: None | Lecture: 3 hours. UC:CSU 3 UNITS
Course covers historical development of the present economic system; its
origins, modification and performance as well as its relation to political
economics with relationship to you and technology.

Internet Research teaches how to use search engines; basic and advanced
searches with Boolean and proximity operators; how to locate materials
in various content fields; how to critically evaluate these sources; and
how to use and cite electronic sources.
