What is Articulation?
Articulation is the process of evaluating courses to create a link between two educational institutions and help students make a smooth transition from the community college to the college or university without experiencing a delay or duplication of coursework. Courses at the community college are identified to meet requirements at the college or university, either as course-to-course equivalencies, as major preparation requirements or as general education (GE) requirements. In some cases, courses may be identified (articulated) as elective units, this means the units will transfer, but the course will not fulfill any GE or major preparation requirements.
Once articulation is established, the Articulation Agreement works to define the path to transfer by assuring students that coursework completed at LAMC will transfer and ensure s the student that courses taken will satisfy GE Breadth, lower-division major preparation requirements and/or electives at the College or University of choice. LAMC has articulation agreements with a varitey of institutions of higher education, including the University of California (UC) campuses, the California State University (CSU) campuses, and private and out-of-state colleges and universities.
- Agreements between LAMC and a UC or CSU campus may be viewed on ASSIST.
- Agreements between LAMC and private or out-of-state colleges and universities are available via the sidebar.
