COMMUNITY COLLEGES AWARD MORE THAN $20 MILLION IN CONTRACTS TO SMALL BUSINESSES
FOR CONSTRUCTION AND UPGRADES AT MISSION COLLEGE
Contracts will bring needed construction
services and upgrades as part of the $2.2 billion Proposition A and AA
Bond program
Dec. 12, 2005 (LOS ANGELES) The Los Angeles Community Colleges,
consisting of nine Los Angeles-area colleges, announced today that it
has awarded $21,915,000 in construction contracts to two separate small
businesses for construction and upgrade projects at Los Angeles Mission
College. Each contract is the result of formal competitive bidding and
will be funded by Propositions A and AA, as part of the $2.2 billion bond
measure construction program overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2001
and 2003.
The Colleges Board of Trustees authorized the following construction
contracts on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005:
The Board of Trustees authorized an agreement with DJM Construction of
Cerritos, Calif. for the Parking Structure A project at Los Angeles Mission
College (LAMC) in the amount of $19,085,000. This project will provide
for the construction of a new parking structure to accommodate the campuss
projected increase in enrollment. Funding for this project is provided
through Proposition A Bond proceeds.
The Board of Trustees also authorized an agreement with EMMA Corporation
of Santa Monica, Calif. for the Campus-Wide Infrastructure General
project at LAMC in the amount of $2,830,000. Funding for this project
is provided through Proposition AA Bond proceeds. For more information
