  • Assessment

Los Angeles Mission College offers assessments in English-as-a- Native-Language (ENL), English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) and Mathematics. Upon submitting an application to the college, all new non-exempt students (see Matriculation Exemptions) are required to go through the assessment process. The placements from the assessment process will help place students into the appropriate level for English or ESL and Mathematics.

The assessment process for ENL or ESL and Mathematics is available on year-round basis. The ENL and ESL placements are computerized tests.  The Mathematics placement uses a paper pencil version of the MDTP.  All assessments are available on a walk-in basis. Please contact the Assessment Center at (818) 364-7613 for more information.

Please plan on a 2 hour and 30 minute timeframe to go through the ENL and Math placement process.

The ENL test is comprised of:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Sentence Skills

The Math test is comprised of four levels:

  • Algebra Readiness
  • Elementary Algebra
  • Intermediate Algebra
  • Pre-Calculus

Sample Math Tests
