Dr. William E. Norlund Dear President Norlund: The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, at its meeting on January 7-8, 1999, reviewed the Progress Report submitted by Los Angeles Mission College. I am pleased to inform you that the report was accepted. As the college develops its Self Study for the comprehensive evaluation scheduled for spring, 2001, the Commission requests that information on two issues mentioned in the Progress Report be included: The outcomes of the current discussions on the reorganization of college/district functions and relationships. Evidence that the district has achieved fiscal stability and has achieved an appropriate discretionary operating reserve. Sustained progress on all of the matters on which Los Angeles Mission College has reported progress is the more general concern of the Commission. The Commission encourages you to give the report and this letter appropriate dissemination to your college staff and to those who participated in the development of the report. On behalf of the Commission, I wish to express continuing interest in the institution's educational programs and services. Professional self-regulation is the most effective means of assuring integrity, effectiveness and quality. Sincerely, David B. Wolf cc: Mr. James Heinselman, Chancellor |
