Summer 2019 Research Internship Opportunity

Want to gain research experience within the field of Biology? Participants in the Summer Research and Internship program will gain firsthand experience working with faculty at participating institutions including UCLA, CSUN, and USC.

To be eligible to apply you must be:

  • Currently enrolled at Los Angeles Mission College as your primary college
  • Planning to transfer in a STEM major
  • Completed at least 2 STEM course
  • Willing to make full-time commitment for Summer 2019
  • Willing to enroll in Biotech 8: Biological Research Internship (2 units) during summer

2019 Summer Research for Undergraduates Program- Mississippi State University

  • The cohort of students will participate in exciting renewable energy research projects as well as professional development, social and outreach activities. 2019 Discipline- Based Education Research Experience for Undergraduates

 

  • Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) is a scholarly field that combines disciplinary expertise in a STEM field (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.) with research methods from cognitive science, psychology and the learning sciences. REU participants will have the opportunity to engage in novel research projects in an important and exciting field:  model-based reasoning in STEM Education. 2019 Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research
  • Summer programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide an opportunity to spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research (At the NIH "biomedical sciences" includes everything from behavioral and social sciences, through biology and chemistry, to physics, mathematical modeling, computational biology, and biostatistics). 2019 Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine - Summer Research Program for Undergraduate Students

  • The program provides an opportunity for veterinary and undergraduate students interested in veterinary medicine to explore non-practice careers by engaging in a mentored research project through informal and formal interactions with scientists. Veterinary students will also travel to the National Boehringer Ingelheim Veterinary Scholars Symposium. It is anticipated that the positive experiences during the summer program will inspire students to pursue rewarding careers in veterinary and biomedical research. Click here for more information. Washington University in St. Louis Summer Engineering Fellowship Program (WUSEF)
  • The Washington University Summer Engineering Fellowship (WUSEF) program is designed to encourage exceptional students from backgrounds underrepresented in the STEM fields, including underrepresented minority students, students from economically disadvantaged and underserved backgrounds and students with disabilities, to participate in engineering research. Fellows will enjoy a rewarding summer research experience at one of the nation’s top universities.Projects will be in the general areas of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer science and materials science. 2019 W.K Biological Station Research Experience for Undergraduate Students & Summer Field Courses
  • The NSF funded KBS REU Site “Ecological & Evolutionary Dynamics in a Changing World” gives students an opportunity to conduct full-time research in collaboration with our outstanding faculty, postdocs, and graduate students. All REU positions offer a generous stipend, FREE room and board at KBS, up to $550 towards travel costs, and up to $250 for research supplies. 2019 Global Environmental Microbiology (GEM) Summer Course (USC & Santa Catalina Island) 
  • The GEM course is an introductory microbiology course for early career undergraduates who are contemplating a career in scientific research. The course combines classroom learning with hands-on activities. 2019 UC San Diego Medical Scientists Training Program Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
  • This program is designed for motivated undergraduate students from groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to be underrepresented in health sciences on a national basis and who are interested in seeking future training in a combined MD/PhD program or an academically oriented career in medicine. 2019 Sping and Summer COPE Health Scholars Program (Adventist Health Glendale & Dignity Health Medical Center)
  •  As a Health Scholar, you will gain firsthand experience in both clinical and administrative health care settings and become an integral part of the care delivery team. 2019 Health Career Connection Internship Program
  • Health Career Connection (HCC) is a comprehensive professional development program that provides paid summer internships to undergraduate and recent graduates in the field of public health and health care. HCC provides internships in a variety of settings including but not limited to: hospitals, community health centers, medical groups, health plans, local health departments, governmental agencies, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups. HCC provides extensive exposure to health careers through workshops and events guiding students towards their authentic health career path. 2019 EERE Robotics Summer Internship

  • The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) Robotics Internship Program is a 10-week summer internship program for students majoring in a field related to robotics, manufacturing, or engineering. Undergraduate students receive a $600 per week stipend & Up to $1,000 to/from assigned location for interns whose home location is more than 50 miles from the hosting facility. Maternal Health Health-Leadership Education, Advocacy & Research Network (MCH-LEARN) Program

Description
The Maternal Child Health-Leadership Education, Advocacy, and Research Network (MCH-LEARN) is a 10-week, summer and academic year, Maternal Child Health (MCH) program focused on public health, clinical, and research experiences. MCH-LEARN is designed for undergraduate freshman and sophomore students with at least 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale who are interested in MCH professions (pediatric medicine, nutrition, social work, nursing, pediatric dentistry, psychology, health education, pediatric occupational / physical therapy, speech language pathology, public health).

Smithsonian National Air and Space museum Summer Internship Program

Description
Summer internship program provides firsthand experience working in a museum. Positions are available in areas such as aviation or space history, planetary science, digital experience, exhibit and graphic design, communications, finance, and education. Center for Dark energy Biosphere Investigations

Description
Research center that studies life below the oceans, in the sediments and rocks of the subseafloor. This ecosystem is largely unexplored, and we need students to help grow, isolate, describe, and ultimately name the microorganisms referred to as ‘intraterrestrials.’ C4 students will work in teams in laboratories at USC, learning state-of-the-art techniques ranging from DNA sequencing to microscopy and sterile techniques to analytical chemistry.
