Blackboard Connect @ Los Angeles Mission College - July 2012

In 2012 the Title V HSI-Improving Student Success and Access project acquired the Blackboard Connect (BBC) to reach out to our students and inform them of activities, resources, and services provided at the LRC and their respective success centers.  Funded by Title V, Los Angeles Mission College implements the BBC system to enhance campus-wide communication and emergency preparedness.

With BBC, the college will have the ability to send out two specific types of messages: outreach messages and emergency messages. A message can reach to recipients by their cell phones, home phones, email addresses, and TTY/TDD receiving devices for the hearing impaired in an efficient and timely manner.

Outreach messages are sent only to the primary email addresses.

Alert messages are sent to all configured email addresses and phone numbers.

We are working hard to provide the college community with the latest messaging technology.  This communication technology adds to our ability to maintain a learning, teaching environment in which students and employees are safe, comfortable and informed.

Do I need to enroll to receive messages?

No, you don't need to enroll to receive messages.


How will students, faculty and staff be notified?

Students, faculty and staff will be notified via their cell phone, text messaging and their primary email addresses.

Student email addresses and phones are derived from the District Student Information System.

Faculty and staff email addresses and phones are obtained from Faculty/Staff My Mission Portal.

 

As a student, how do I update my contact information?

To update your email address and home phone number, please login to the District Student Information System at this link: https://eweb3.laccd.edu/WebStudent/signon.asp.
To update or add your cell phone number to the BBC system, please login to LAMC Student Portal at this link: https://mymission.lamission.edu/studentlogin.aspx 

Notes: Your cell phone will be used only for emergency messages.  Please realize that the text message rates will apply in accordance with your particular service plan.

 

As a faculty or staff member, how do I update my contact information?

To update your contact information, you need to login to Faculty/Staff My Mission portal.

How do I identify the coming messages made by the Blackboard Connect at Mission College?

If it is an email message, the sender of the message begins with LAMC-[department/office].

If it is a voice message, the caller ID is 818-364-7600

If it is a text message (SMS), the caller ID is SMS@blackboard.com and a text message begins with LAMC-Alert
