An international student is a foreign national who has permission from United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to study at an educational institution in the United States.

International students may be authorized  to study with 2 types of Visas:

F-1 Student Visa

  • Allows students to enroll in academic programs at an accredited college, university, high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or language training program
  • Must be enrolled in a course of study that culminates in a degree, diploma, or certificate

M-1 Student Visa

  • Allow students to enroll in vocational or nonacademic programs (other than language training)

English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC are not required for newly admitted students. Students interested in applying for the English as a Second Language (ESL) program will be assessed with the ESL department for placement in academic ESL credit courses.
